Sadasivan earned a Bachelor of Arts in speech language pathology in 1978 from George Washington University before coming to Michigan State University to complete a masters and doctoral degree in speech and language pathology. She has a cognate in gerontology and her dissertation focused on processing deficits in Alzheimer patients. She holds a certificate of clinical competence in speech pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and she has been a member of Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society since 1990.

Prior to joining MSU in 2006, she was in private practice as president and CEO of Cognitive-Speech Rehabilitation Services Inc. Her private work focused on treatment of high-level cognitive deficits resulting from traumatic brain injuries. It is during this time that she developed the PEAK Program for Academic Success and the PEAK Program for Vocational Success. She is a consultant for the State of Michigan, Michigan Rehabilitation Services and the Veteran’s Administration on matters related to cognitive disabilities. She began working with professional (medical, law, veterinary, and other) students in 1992 and eventually development “bootcamp for boards”, a program focused on the “process of learning” to help students pass their board examinations. Her current research interest focuses on the treatment of processing deficits to enhance cognitive performance in students with disabilities.
