Eligibility for Ceremony Participation

Graduates from May, August, or December are invited to participate in this ceremony, which is the College's sole event encompassing all graduation dates for the calendar year. Any student with ALL directory FERPA restrictions will not have their name listed in the official commencement program. To update your FERPA restriction and have your name included, please login to your account in the Student Information System (SIS), Student Information System - Student Portal.

Academic Regalia

All graduates and hooders must wear full academic regalia (gown, hood, tam, and tassel). Graduates who wish to be hooded by a family member or mentor must ensure that the individual holds a doctoral degree. Both the graduate and hooder are required to wear academic regalia. Please see the policy below.

As a gift, MSUCOM provides each graduate with a keepsake of academic regalia. Hooders may either wear their own academic regalia or rent academic regalia. If rented, hooders, their student graduate, or a family member are responsible for picking up regalia from the MSU Union before the ceremony. Details regarding gown orders, including both keepsake and rental options, will be provided in January. The ordering website will open in February and close in March. Please look for communication from the College in January with further details.
