Our Impact

The Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) profession has positively impacted medical care for people across the state, the nation and internationally, with more than 25% of all medical students in the U.S. now graduating from an Osteopathic Medical school.

As of 2022, Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM) has graduated over 7,300 D.O. physicians. Our alumni are among those D.O.s serving patients in communities across the U.S. and internationally. About 73% of actively practicing MSUCOM graduates since 1985 are practicing in Michigan, helping to meet the primary care health needs of Michigan residents.

MSUCOM has been at the forefront of addressing state-wide physician deficiencies since it was established in 1969 by legislative decree and continues its commitment to providing D.O. primary health care providers to the state of Michigan.
