Michigan State University President Kevin Guskiewicz recently announced the university’s One Team, One Health initiative, outlining a path forward for MSU’s Health Sciences and the MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine as part of this effort.
Importantly, there are no immediate changes to programs, degrees, accreditation, faculty, staff or students. Our educational model, clinical training network and longstanding standards of excellence remain unchanged.
At the same time, this announcement highlights the vital role of osteopathic medicine at MSU – our strong mission, strong outcomes and our leadership in advancing the osteopathic profession. The vision behind One Team, One Health closely reflects the principles that define osteopathic medicine: seeing the whole person, understanding the interconnection of systems and working collaboratively to promote health and healing.
By aligning strengths across disciplines, expanding research and clinical partnerships and preparing future physicians to lead in an increasingly complex healthcare environment, this initiative positions osteopathic medicine to extend its impact even further.
MSUCOM leadership has been engaged in this work from the beginning. As we begin the next phase, our mission, osteopathic identity and accreditation remain secure and central to MSU’s future.
We will share updates as they are available. You may also learn more about One Team, One Health from the president.
