I am an associate professor in Microbiology, Genetics and Immunology, and in Pediatrics and Human Development. In the College of Osteopathic Medicine, I serve as the co-director of the D.O.-Ph.D. program, as well as the assistant dean for Graduate Studies. The broad theme of my research is common complex diseases. The current objectives are to identify genetic factors that cause and contribute risk for orofacial clefting, and to measure and mitigate the impact of hearing loss using a community-based participatory approach in rural mid-Michigan.
