Bruce Wolf is 2023 Walter F. Patenge Medal of Public Service recipient

Bruce Wolf, D.O., FAOCR, has been named the recipient of the 2023 Walter F. Patenge Medal of Public Service Award. This award is the highest honor from the MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine and named for Walter F. Patenge, the first president of the Michigan Osteopathic Medicine Advisory Board. Dr. Wolf is the assistant dean for the MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine Macomb University Center site and associate professor of the Department of Radiology within the college. He has served MSUCOM since 2016 at which time he was an assistant professor and a staff radiologist, and academic advisory liaison.

After earning his D.O. from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine Midwestern, Dr. Wolf served in a rotating internship with Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital and then a diagnostic radiology residency with MSU and the Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital. He also was a fellow in vascular and interventional radiology at Lehigh Valley Hospital. In addition, he is a fellow of the American Osteopathic College of Radiology.

Prior to joining MSU, Dr. Wolf served as director of medical education, Osteopathic, with the Tenet Healthcare, Detroit Medical Center. During his career, he also served as staff radiologist with Dr. L. Reynolds Associates, PC, and the Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital in Southfield for 11 years and staff radiologist with Diagnostic Radiology Associates of Flint and McLaren Regional Medical Center.

Dr. Wolf has earned certification in RPVI with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography; CAQ-Vascular and Interventional Radiology and Diagnostic Radiology Lifetime Certificate with the American Osteopathic Bard of Radiology; and is a diplomate with the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners. Among his academic appointments in addition to the MSU College of Osteopathic Medicine are adjunct assistant professor in diagnostic radiology at the Touro University Nevada College of Osteopathic Medicine; director of radiology residency at the Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital; clinical assistant professor at Wayne State University and clinical assistant professor in the Department of Radiology with the MSU College of Human Medicine.

Dr. Wolf also serves as the college medical advisor to Diagnostic medical Sonography Program in Schoolcraft and medical advisor to DeepLook Inc. In addition, his work has been included in three publications and he has made numerous presentations. His awards include First Place-Michigan Osteopathic Association 8th Annual Autumn Scientific Research Exhibit Competition; Distinguished Service Award, Michigan Osteopathic Association (MOA); Honorary Life Professional, MOA; and Teacher of the Year-Diagnostic Radiology, and more.

Dr. Wolf is one of the current Michigan representatives to the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) Board of Trustees and is on the Committee on Basic Documents and Operations of Affiliated Organizations, as well as vice chair of the Subcommittee on Basic Documents, and the Ethics Review and Board Appeals Committee, among numerous other positions he’s held with AOA. He has also served as the chair of the Council on Osteopathic Graduate Medical Education (COGMED) and vice chair of the Bureau of Federal Health Programs. Dr. Wolf is also president of the Blue Care Network Board of Directors and a former chair and fellow of the American Osteopathic College of Radiology (AOCR), in which he has served in numerous roles. He is past president of the Michigan Osteopathic Association (MOA) and has served in numerous other roles over the years.

Dr. Wolf will be recognized on May 10, 2023, during a special celebration.
