Threads
The D.O. program's required preclerkship courses are arranged sequentially, beginning with introductory Foundational Basic Science (FBS) courses and moving into organ systems.
The program tags content by its primary topic or “thread;" this structure promotes both vertical integration within the required systems courses and horizontal integration across the individual threads.
Thread directors facilitate this integration for their threads and are integral to the D.O. program, combining subject-matter expertise, instructional skill and collaborative leadership.
