Know Better, DO Better Form

Know Better, DO Better Form

Students are invited to share comments and ideas on where the content or presentation could be more inclusive and share kudos when they experience inclusive content. The intention is to encourage thoughtful review of the content and how it is represented in the curriculum in support of MSUCOM’s mission to provide care for all people.

This process was inspired by the quote from Dr. Maya Angelou: "Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better." Feedback will be shared with the faculty for curricular improvement, with periodic reports shared at Curriculum Committee and with student groups.

Examples of when to use this form:

  • What is presented: curricular topics
  • How it’s presented: terminology, context, images, delivery method, etc.

For other types of feedback, please visit the Common Ground Professional Initiative page for the CGPI Submission Portal.

Threads

The D.O. program's required preclerkship courses are arranged sequentially, beginning with introductory Foundational Basic Science (FBS) courses and moving into organ systems.

The program tags content by its primary topic or “thread;" this structure promotes both vertical integration within the required systems courses and horizontal integration across the individual threads.

Thread directors facilitate this integration for their threads and are integral to the D.O. program, combining subject-matter expertise, instructional skill and collaborative leadership.
